Trucking logistics companies have many software and devices that capture data during operations. Companies can reap this data from fuel purchase transactions to ELD driver and truck miles’ information and feed its system to improve management and decision-making. The question, then, is which information should be collected to provide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)?

Trucking Logistics Company KPIs
Trucking logistics companies have different ways they can measure their success. According to the goals and benchmarks a company chooses as key performance indicators (KPIs), they can collect and use their data to facilitate management. For instance, if a company has a truck mileage that is expected drivers and trucks to hit, managers can then set this benchmark in their dashboard system. Then companies can have miles per gallon data integrated to pull this data to compare driver by driver, truck by truck, and so on. Other KPIs suggestions could be attached to the company’s highest operational direct costs. Those would be the money outflow tied to the company’s money inflow. To summarize it very simply, the costs will increase in the same proportion as the company’s revenue increases.
Trucking logistics companies need to reap the benefits of the data their operations produce to yield the benefits good data integration and automation provides. Selecting KPIs correlated with direct costs can be a significant profit increase in the short term. Therefore, the wiser the investments trucking logistics companies make to build this flow, the greater the chances of those efforts resulting in a profit increase.
